A young boy from Delhi, Ripu Daman Handa has got into the fame after winning cookery reality show MasterChef India Season 3.

Chef Ripu Daman Handa is not only a passionate chef but he is a good entertainer, he hosted few cookery show like Snack Attack-Firangi Twist and had participated in a Dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye 6’. He has one restaurant by the name of ‘Macchiato’ in Mumbai. Being a Gym trainer, he has a good knowledge of nutritional facts. He is expertise in Italian cuisine, known for his fusion recipes and international snacks. In addition, he organizes cooking workshops in different cities of India every month to encourage passionate cooks.

We got a chance in conducting an interview session with the charming Master Chef of India, Chef Ripu Daman Handa who share his inspiring story of success.

1. Few words about your background, family and you

I was notorious and always loved adventures in my early days. Never took studies seriously. Being a Punjabi to the core, I was always attracted to good food. Also, I was keen on exploring my kitchen with my mother. My family is my pillar. From the journey of Ripu Daman to Chef Ripu Daman is because of them.

2. How do you describe your style of cooking?

It’s freestyle cooking. Because the basics are clear. But definitely, I am still learning. (laughs)

3. Which is the dish you call your Signature dish?

All those recipes that I made in my master chef journey are my signature dishes because they are not just close to my heart but they made me what I am today.

4. Is there a secret ingredient that you love to cook with?

How can I reveal that! (laughs). No, I think every dish has a special ingredient. Especially for the Indian cooking, there are our own magic box i.e masalas (spices)

5. Was being chef your original dream?

No, not my dream. As I said before I was always attracted to food and loved exploring it. It all started from my own kitchen. I always use to help mother and sister in law in their cooking.

I never dreamt of it concisely but God knew!!!

6. Is there a Chef you truly admire and why?

Yes, he is definitely the one and only chef Sanjeev Kapoor. Reason is clear he made cooks to chefs 🙂

7. What is Chef Ripu’s favorite meal?

Ghar ka khana’ is my favorite meal.

8. Do you have a guilty food pleasure?

I love food. Hence I have no guilt. Food is my 1st wife and life.

9. How do see the food scene changing in India?

Everybody now wants to have modern food. The palate has also changed accordingly. Food choices have changed. Which is why new things have come to India. So there is a difference and it will keep changes always.

10. What are your future plans?

I only think of today. Hence, no future plans.

11. Any message for amateur cooks?

All I have to say is cooking for me is an art. It just not easy but not difficult as well. All we have to do is just put some love to it and this is it!! An attraction for food is important. Just be patient and believe in yourself.
