2 tbsp Peanuts
1 tbsp Food oil
1 tbsp Ghee / Saturated Butter
1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
3 Cloves
1 Bay Leaf
1 medium Tomatoes finely chopped
1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
7 Curry Leaves
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1/4 tsp Asafoetida / Hing
1 tsp ginger grated
2 tbsp Jaggery finely chopped
1 tsp Lemon juice
to taste Salt
1 tbsp Coriander Leaves

Gujarati Toovar Dal Step by step

Boil the soak toovar dal in a pressure cooker until the dal melt. When dal is ready to blend the blender in it and make a smooth batter of toovar dal.

Take a deep pan and heat it on medium flame, add oil and ghee into it.

Now add mustard seed, cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, peanuts, fenugreek seeds, grated ginger, green chilli and curry leaves cook it for 2 minutes.

Now add asafoetida, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and finely chopped tomatoes. Cook it for 2 to 3 minutes till tomato become soft.

Once all the ingredients mix well adds boiled toovar dal and mix it well.

Add some water, jaggery and simmer for 10 minutes until dal become little thicken. Turn off the flame and add lemon juice, mix it well.

Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it with rice.
